Gloria has started “cooing.”  This is what her doctor calls it, anyway.  (“What kind of milestones has Gloria reached this month?  Smiling, reaching for things, cooing?”  “What the hell is cooing??”)

I guess cooing is what baby happy sounds are called.  Except, little devil that she is, her “cooing” sounds more like an evil little “heeee!” she does while grinning hugely.  It seems to occur only during wildly inappropriate times, which I can’t help but think is purposeful.  Pees on me before her bath?  “Heee!!”  Wakes up at four a.m. just because?  “Heeeee!!”  Pukes all over Mike’s work shirt minutes before he has to leave?  “Heeee!!”

At two months old her hair is still brown.  But look at the eyebrows!!  Red, right?  So there's still hope for a redhead.

Her colitis has cleared up for the moment, and we’re still working with her GI doctor on her reflux.  We’ve been through five different formulas and most of them just make things worse.  We have one more formula to try before her doctor takes a closer look at her medicines instead.  I was *this* close to saying forget it, we’ll deal with the reflux the way we were, but at her two month check-up we found out that she’s not gaining the amount of weight that her doctor would like her to.  Her appetite is suppressed because eating is so uncomfortable for her.  I can only sigh and continue to try different things until we find the combination that works.

She grew two inches in the past month, though.  She’s going to be an amazon woman like her mother.

Mike and I aren’t the only ones dealing with an adjustment over the past two months.  The animals have had to rearrange themselves as well.  Kevin used to sleep in our room (on our bed, spoiled boy) until Gloria arrived.  Now his snoring and tag-jingling is banished to the living room so Gloria’s 45-minute intervals of sleep aren’t chopped even shorter.  Kevin hates this, and has devised a sneaky method of thwarting it.

This is where he is at bedtime.  Good Kevin.

When I get up to feed Gloria at midnight he has usually moved to the hallway by our bedroom.  Staring intently through the doorway.

By three a.m. I wake up with this in my face.

And at six I feel something heavy on my legs …
