This past weekend a friend and I went to Lake Placid to see the Ironman, since her friend and my family were running in it.

It was a great trip.  I'm going to let the photos speak for themselves.

On the way we stopped in Star Lake so Michelle could wax nostalgic.
Oops.  Note the Posted Property sign in the background.  Too late, the shoes were already off.

We also passed a Gift & Gun Shop.

WE HAVE SET UP THE TENT.
AND STARTED THE FIRE.
Not with matches, no.  With a Torch Torch.
And minimal casualties.
Eesh, morning one.
We hiked on the first morning.  This mostly consisted of me gasping for breath, my quads only moving by sheer force of will, and Michelle sprinting ahead after hawks.

Sunday was the Ironman.  I cannot put into words how incredible it was to watch.

I am so proud of my mom and my sister that the flood of emotion makes me gag a little.

People had fascinating ways of cheering on their athletes.

And even stranger outfits to compete in:

Swim:

Bike:

Run:

Sit:

Cheer:

Finish!
